At Julian's, we work hard to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum. A significant part of this is ensuring that all children have enrichment opportunities offered through the Creative Arts.
We have peripatetic dance teachers who deliver outstanding dance lessons to all classes.
We work closely with Lambeth Music Service, and we have Music lessons provided by peripatetic teachers from Reception to Year 6. We showcase this work termly for parents and carers.
Julian's also has a Steel Pan orchestra, taught by Sherene Smith - a talented steel pans tutor. Visitors to our school always comment on the beautiful melodies emanating from the music room on Steel Pans day!
In addition, all classes are given the opportunity to attend theatre visits and theatre workshops - both in and out of school. Last year, our Years 5 & 6 students took part in a Macbeth silent film project, together with other SLSP schools, which was led by the Primary Shakespeare Company. This culminated in a special screening of the film at the Ritzy cinema. Our Year 6s then performed Macbeth in full Shakespearian language as their end of year performance to parents and carers.
This year we shall be working with the Company again on "Julius Caesar".
We view the Creative Arts as integral to a balanced education and we use the many and varied experiences, educational visits and visitors to build confidence, resilience and perseverence in all of our learners.
