Welcome back after half term. Our creative context this term continues to be Wheels, Wings and Other things! The focus during this half term will be in history. Children will be learning about the journeys families made in the past. We will be celebrating how our family historys differ and the importance of journeys to everyday life in London today.
In science we will learning about the habitats of animals - finishing the term with an exciting educational visit to the Wetlands.
PE is on Thursdays from 11am-12pm
Dance is on Thursday mornings
Please ensure children have their PE kit in school for those days.
Children will receive 2 reading books each week. These will be given to the children on different days, according to their current reading group. This will be explained to the children and they will be encouraged to learn which day is their book changing day.
Open reading morning
Open reading mornings occur on the first Friday of every month (unless an educational visit means this is not possible). These are a fantastic opportunity to promote the importance and value of reading. All parents and carers are extremely welcome to join us for these reading sessions from 9:00 till 9:30. 2E hope that you can attend as many of these as possible!
Homework will be sent home each week on a Friday afternoon. This will be a review/consolidation of what we have been learning in class. Activities and tasks will include a combination of maths, literacy, phonics and creative context topics. We also ask that you read as frequently as possible with your child, using the school books that have been sent home. Please use the reading records to see what your child has been focusing on at reading sessions at school and use this to ask any questions and make comments of how they have got on.
Should you have questions at any stage throughout the year please do not hesitate to speak with me either at school or through email.
