Welcome to 3C!
Our focus in maths this term will be on place value, addition and subtraction. In addition to this, children will also be working on their mental maths skills or KIRFs (number bonds to 20 and 100). We have already learned a lot about place value and have been practising our mental maths. Next week, we move onto addition and subtraction.
In English, we have just finished reading Feelings by Richard Jones and Libby Walden and the children wrote some great poetry on emotions inspired by this book. We are now onto our next book, George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. The class will be learning how to write a set of instructions for a potion so they can turn George's nasty grandma into a creature of their choice. We know they will have a lot of fun doing this.
We are now all well underway with our art lessons on self-portraits linked with our work on All About Me. Children have been learning about different mark-making techniques, proportion and colour. Year 3 are also enjoying their Science work on Animals, Including Humans and have started to learn about the functions of different muscles.
Homework is sent out every Friday and needs to be returned every Wednesday in their plastic wallet.
Please see swimming and P.E. days below:
Swimming: Monday (please bring a towel, swim suit and a swim hat)
P.E: Friday (please bring Julian's P.E. kit and black plimsoles)
MusicTrax Lessons are every Tuesday. Children will be learning the recorder and percussion instruments.
We have really enjoyed the first few weeks back and look forward to the year ahead.
