Over the next two weeks, we are going to talk a lot about eating and staying healthy.
To support our learning we are going to read a book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”.
Children will be doing lots of activities related to the food theme: writing caterpillar’s food diary, sorting healthy and unhealthy foods, discussing what we need to do to stay healthy. We will be learning about the effects of exercise on our body, noticing when we get warmer and breathe heavier.
In Maths, we will be challenging ourselves to estimate how many objects there are in a set and then count to check their estimation.
We will be continuing to consolidate our knowledge of numbers by securing good counting skills and number recognition. We will be moving on to calculations with addition and subtractions. We will begin by using practical resources to add/subtract two amounts together and count the total. We will be carrying on practising how to write this down using the +, - and = signs.
We will continuously be ensuring that other areas of Mathematics remain fresh in the children’s minds e.g. shape, measure and pattern.
We will be continuing to encourage children to develop their own creative ideas by always having a wide range of media and materials available for them to access as they choose.
